About Me! My name is Richard Blackman, originally from England I have moved around a bit. My father, before he retired, worked at the Isle of Grain oil refinery in Kent. When I was 17 he took a transfer to Sullom Voe in the Shetland Isles, another oil terminal, and he took my mother and me with him. I lived in Shetland for 13 years and by then I was also working in the Oil Industry. I took a transfer to Flotta Oil Terminal in Orkney where I lived for another 6 years before I met my wife, over the internet, and moved to Indiana in 1997.If you follow the pictures down, on the right, I have put 2 from each location. My wife, Audrey, is a Dog Groomer and Dog obedience instructor who was born and raised in Indiana.I am fortunate to be one of the few who has been able to turn a hobby into a career. Starting with my first computer, a Sinclair ZX80 in 1980 I progressed through a ZX81, Sinclair Spectrum, a UK101, then an Amstrad 464 then onto my first actual PC based on a 3086 processor. Then 286, 386, 486, 486DX, Pentium etc etc. I pretty much owned them all. Now I am a Systems Administrator for an Accounting firm and dabble in everything tech, networking, websites, I build PC's on a regular basis. And maybe part of this website will become my techlog. We have 3 dogs, all shelties, which my wife takes to dog shows. You can learn more about her business at www.ccgrooming.com |
